Kenya’s Paul Kipsiele Koech broke new grounds when winning the 5000m metres at the PSD Bank Indoor meet in Dusseldorf Germany on Wednesday night.
On a night rich with world leading performances Koech covered the distance in a life time best of 13 minutes and 02.65 seconds. His compatriots Daniel Kipchirchir Komen (13:06.27) and Daniel Lemashon Salel (13:15.89) followed.
Earlier another Kenyan Augustine Choge produce a world best this year in the 1500m winning the race in 3 minutes 36.75 seconds. South Africa’s Juan Van Deventer (3:37.25) was second with Kenya’s Godfrey Rono (3:38.10) place third. In other events, Sudan’s Ismail Ahmed Ismail was runner up in 800m while Irene Jelagat was third in the women’s 1500m.
