Dibaba shines in Boston

Ethiopian double Olympic champions Tirunesh Dibaba got her season off to a promising start winning the 5000m at the Reebok Boston Games on Saturday.

Running for most of the race unchallenged Dibaba covered the distance in 14:44.53. She as followed by Kenyan Sally Kipyego (14:52.67) and another Ethiopian Aheza Kiros (15:28.28).

In contrast, Kenyan-born Bernard Lagat (USA) had several challengers to contend with before setting an American record of 13:11.50 in the 5000m. The Ethiopian duo of Dejen Gebremeskel and Bakana Dada followed in a photo finish. Each was credited with an identical time of 13:11.78
