Mogawane build up to the Africa championshipsSouth African 400m champion Ofentse Mogawane’s double victories in Brazzaville and Tunis suggests he could be a medal contender at the Africa Senior Athletics Championship in Nairobi Kenya (28 July-01August)  

South Africa Ofentse Mogawane clocked 45.86 seconds to win the 400m at the Tunis international meet in Tunisia on Saturday (18 June).
The meet carried a Confederation of Africa Athletics Silver Label. Athletes used the event to prepare for the Africa Senior Athletics Champions due in Nairobi Kenya from 28 July to August 01.
After a fifth placement (46.23) at the IAAF Challenge in Rabat Morocco (04 June), the victory was a welcome relief for Mogawane. He has also improved his personal best in the 300m with a winning time of 32.51 in Ostrava in the Czech Republic (25 May). Mogawane went on to win the one lap race in Brazzaville on 31 May in 45.63(see the full meet results below).
“All these races are part of my preparations for the Africa Athletics Championships in (Nairobi) Kenya,” says Mogawane from his based in Dusseldorf Germany. “This is my year and I am ready to face the challenge for the gold medal,” say Mogawane.
Africa will use the Africa championships to select the Africa team for the IAAF Inter Continental Cup in Split Croatia (4-5 September).
