Kenyan distance runner Joseph Menjo won the Zatopek Memorial 10,000m in Melbourne Australia on Thursday (09 December).
Running through driving rain Menjo prevailed in 27:39.80. He was well ahead of Australia runners up Ben St Lawrence (28:05.25) and American Bobby Curtis (28:08.78).
Menjo is the fastest athlete in the event this year, having covered the distance in a lifetime best of 26:56.74 in Turka Finland on 29 August. Nine days earlier at the same venue he clocked a personal best of 12:55.95 in the 5000m, the world’s tenth fastest runner this year.
